I can't wait for March when the new Princess Diaries book--
Princess in Pink--comes out. I read a sneak preview of it at
Meg Cabot's site, and I also discovered she has a blog. It's hilarious and great. I can't believe they're going to have a sequel to the PD movie, though. The first one was cute, but it was
nothing like the book. I will see it, though, because I adore Anne Hathaway.
Speaking of Anne, I also must see
Ella Enchanted. I read it in seventh or eighth grade, and it was a really great book. I don't remember many of the details of it, except that Ella was under this spell so that she had to obey ever command given to her. I'll still see it though.
As Crissy observed a few days ago, there is a rash of princess/royalty movies coming out this year:
Princess Diaries 2,
Ella Enchanted,
A Cinderella Story (with Hilary Duff, and I MUST see this because I LOVE Cinderella-based tales, even though Hilary Duff ain't exactly my favorite girl star in the world--I'm all about the Chad Michael Murray, though),
The Prince and Me (with Julia Stiles, who I also adore), the movie version of
All-American Girl (President's son in this one; kind of royalty-like, non?), and, of course,
Chasing Liberty. I have to see all of them, because I am a sap. (I wonder if they'd ever make
The Ordinary Princess a movie. I read that in second grade, and I loved it. I somehow lost my copy and I haven't seen it in a bookstore since, which is sad. It's a great story.) And, oh yeah, I
so must see
Spider-Man 2 and
The Day After Tomorrow on the first days. (Tobey! Jake! EEEE! I am so unfailingly shallow.)
Wow, this looks like an entry that should go in
the pop culture journal.
There are these guys who are on the Steve Harvey show moving their pecs to "Dueling Banjos" from
Deliverance. It's amusing, yet it's possibly one of the most disturbing things I have EVER seen.)
And, for the random book nerds out there, here is
Candice's List of Reccomended Reads. These are, for now, 18 books I've read entirely too many times, and I love them thismuch.
( It's mostly girl-centered stuff, but a few required middle school/Battle of the Books ones are in here too... )The next time I get more money that I won't have to save (or use to pay my book fine), I'm going to Barnes and Noble and ordering a copy of
The Ordinary Princess.
