I keep meaning to do things that I keep putting off. GAH.

Anyway, it's that time of year: CARD TIME! If you want a Christmas/holiday card, you know what to do. If the poll's too short, leave a comment; I'm screening everything.

October is lurking closer, which means that November is lurking even more close, which means that NaNoWriMo will soon be upon us. As those of you who've been following me for a while know, I'm almost unable to resist the call of NaNo, and in the past I've won in odd-numbered years, so naturally, I am trying it again.

The problem? I have three plot ideas and no idea which one I want to greenlight as my story.

So that is where you all come in. I'll present the plot ideas, and you can pick the one that you think I should go with the most.

PLOT ONE: Kind of like Love Actually in suburban Virginia. At a school, the students who are part of the staff for the yearbook, newspaper, and literary magazine do a Secret Santa exchange. Eight students (four boys, four girls) are involved, and each has their own little story: there's the dreamboat boy who was once a socially awkward geek who still is socially awkward, this cynical newspaper dude who has a thing for the snarly aspiring singer/songwriter, a girl who works at an Aerie/Victoria's Secret type store who has a crush on one of her coworkers, who is the sister of another student, and so on. And, of course, there are romantic entanglements and goofiness and Christmas/holiday-related hijinks.

PLOT TWO: Our main character goes to a school with a strong performing arts department, including offering a class once every two years that focuses on writing a musical. She applies to get into the class, and is rejected. She's upset, and during the summer, when she's volunteering at a theater camp, she gets an idea: she's going to write and direct her own musical during the school year. She ends up getting some of her friends, enemies, and a preacher's kid to help her, and along with the mysterious owner of the camp she volunteered at, goes on her way to write her musical.

PLOT THREE: This is the only idea with a title. Once upon a time there were two little girls who wanted to be superheroes. They created their own secret identities and costumes, and wrote and illustrated their own comic books. The girls grew up, developed non-superhero interests, but still remained friends. Then comes their sophomore year of high school, and suddenly they find that characteristics in the villains from their childhood are showing up in their classmates. And it's up to them to take on their childhood superhero personas to save the day.

So, there you are.

A belated thank you to everyone who sent me cards this year! (I hope you all got yours safely, even if they were late.)

So while I am a big fan of this current layout, I feel the need to change it. And I've narrowed my options down to these eight, and out of them I've only used one before (and I used that one for a long time), and... yeah. So check this out.

[Poll #1504638]

Coming later today: the list of things that I want to do before I'm 25. I mentioned my list the other day, and here is a smaller version of it. I just have to find the book I wrote it in and post it. Also coming: the pictures from the Maroon 5 concert, just because.

As I consider the new shows coming on during the fall, it makes me wonder. Over the past few years, I've managed to get hooked on quite a few shows... only to have them get canceled. I am like, a champion at falling hard for shows that either only get one season or have a good run and end up being filled with crazy-as-hell fans. And since I have the next three days off, I figure I could make it through one of my box sets of canceled shows since I am trying to not spend money, which means staying at home and chilling versus going on expeditions to... uh, Ross, and leaving with various things that I should not be buying, since I am trying to get stuff.

Anyway.

[Poll #1439408]
enamoured: the starry-eyed emoticon: *_* (on the verge of being obscene)
So, hey, this utterly ridiculous poll is in need of votes. It is also evil. How am I supposed to pick JDM over RDJ or vice versa? That's just wrong.

(Though the PICTURES, omg.)

Man, this reminds me: I wanted to do a bracket-type thing for [livejournal.com profile] fiction_lust. Heck, I might just do it later because I like polls.

[Poll #1362222]

Because I'm staying home, and I need something to do when I'm not at work or sleeping.

Earlier I was drawing with some felt-tipped colored pens I have, and this question came to me.

[Poll #1323152]

I never really can decide. I was a Crayola junkie, and I remember one year I asked for the box that had 96 crayons for Christmas, and I was so psyched when I got them that once I was done checking out all the other gifts, I pulled out paper and started marking all the colors down so I could see what they looked like. On the other hand, I like colored pencils lots too, as you can erase them. Markers are great because you get those bold lines and colors. Plus, scented markers > scented crayons.
enamoured: the starry-eyed emoticon: *_* (our cartoons are better than yours)
I... have no idea where this poll idea came from. [shrugs]

[Poll #1275607]

I had to explain to someone the other day that stepping is not a terrorist action. Oh, people, why are you so full of fail?
enamoured: "I can't go out, I'm sick! COUGH COUGH". Mean Girls. (boo you whore)
You know how sometimes you feel inclined to change something? I've been wanting a new screen name for quite a while, and I can't decide on one.

Yeah, this is indecisiveness to the max, but whatever.

[Poll #1184663]

Explanations for each one:
way out west is part of a line from Duran Duran's "Rio". boo you hor is a take on a line from Mean Girls. met halfway is part of a line from Kelly Clarkson's "Be Still". And disarmed charm has no real meaning; I just think it looks cool.

American Idol and Gossip Girl. )

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

First: I am in word debt. OH GOD.

Second: GO SEE ENCHANTED SO THAT YOU TOO WILL HAVE "THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW" STUCK IN YOUR HEAD.

Third: stolen from [livejournal.com profile] luna_k: Ask me anything, anything at all, but no one can see your questions. Then in another post I'll answer them without attaching the name of the person who asked.

[Poll #1093038]

Fourth: why do I never win in icon contests?

Fifth: ZOMG SO TIRED.
enamoured: the name of a favorite Facebook group: Disney Gave Me Unrealistic Expectations About Love. (disney gave me unrealistic expectations)
I am, semi-currently, making icons of Mean Girls (explaining where my super-cool "boo, you whore" icon comes from) so that I can make my first ever post at [livejournal.com profile] itsapolarbear (HAI). And something dawned on me when I started making that set:

1. I haven't iconned Lost in forever. Not because I dislike the show or anything. I don't know why.
2. There are a lot of things I want to icon but haven't gotten around to because I'm lacking in inspiration or what have you. Like, I've wanted to do Supernatural icons since I did my first set last summer. I've wanted to icon Heroes since the show started. I made 10 Things icons when I first started making icons, and... they are horrible. Well, not horrible, but oversharpened and overly yellow and just bleh. Okay, they are horrible.
3. I have never made a batch of Prison Break icons, yet I have made many of Wentworth Miller. Including this one:

It was made after I something I said at my GJ:

Wentworth Miller with a full head of hair = one of the sexiest things ever. Just... God. I'm looking at pictures of him from right before Prison Break started shooting and he has gorgeous hair. All wavy and like you'd just love to put your fingers through it. He works the shaved head like no one's business, but gah! Hair! ANDTHOSEBLINDINGLYBLUEEYESUNH. Bitch won in the genetic lottery.

And: poll. Because it's almost summer (summer summertime), and I'll have more time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROTHER EVEN THOUGH YOU WILL HOPEFULLY NEVER SEE THIS.
enamoured: the starry-eyed emoticon: *_* (michael you're the only one)
I have been thinking about this off and on for the past couple of days, so I decided that it had to be made into a poll to get an answer.

[Poll #953056]

See, the Petrellis have superpowers. Michael is scary smart and Lincoln is the brute force of the two. And Sam and Dean, well... they have guns with rock salt.

I don't know. I watch too much TV.
enamoured: my OTP is better than yours. (my otp = > than yours)
I am writing my Personal Statement (read: essay for college entrance) about participating in NaNoWriMo, and how it has made me a better person (seriously). And I'm thinking of doing an informal NaNo soon. I've got a kind of working title: The Fangirl's Guide to Life. The idea is that we have a youngish girl (the Fangirl of the title) who is heavily involved in a certain fandom and she goes to a convention and runs into a guy who is also into the fandom and sparks fly. It's like chick-lit, in a way.

So if I want to do this, I basically need to create a fandom. But it has to be the Best Little Fandom Ever, and I can't think of anything on my own that sounds good. This is where everyone else comes in. By participating in this poll, you will help to Create the Perfect Fandom.

[Poll #929200]

Yes, I am insane for posting this during the middle of the night. I should, at least, be working on my essay.
enamoured: the starry-eyed emoticon: *_* (just me myself and i)
I am totally thinking of scraping the NaNo plot I have and abandoning it for something else.

I mean, it's all working in my head, but I've A.) got less than 5000 words and B.) right now, for some reason, my heart's not as into it as I thought it'd be. What made me be all obsessive-complusive last year was the fact that I kind of fell stupidly in love with my characters, all of them, and right now, I feel like I have only the faintest clue as to what to do with these characters. I like them, but I haven't gotten a complete feel for them yet.

Errrrrgh.

To solve this: POLL!

[Poll #861511]
enamoured: the starry-eyed emoticon: *_* (big hair is a religion.)
Because yes, #2 might've recently happened to me, and because I'm kind of curious about what does/doesn't count, as some people whine about this all the time in communities.

I seriously think I should've went to church yesterday. I might've been spared from the crap parts of the day if so. Good grief.

Anyone else on my friends list read comics of any kind?

If so, a few questions.

[Poll #761718]

I'm asking because today I almost got completely caught up on Runaways (four issues, from 13 through 16)--except for issue 17, and I want to know if anyone out there, y'know, reads it too. And I saw the first two Civil War books and know there's a Runaways/Young Avengers one coming out soon and I totally want those as well. And yeah.

I should've probably included a "reccomend a comic to me" space on there, but I forgot, so: reccomend a comic to me. Pretty much the only one I read now is Runaways, and I've read the first Spider-Girl digest and thought it was pretty good, so anything up that vein is cool.
enamoured: the starry-eyed emoticon: *_* (stfu man!)
I've given the occasional thought of buying a rename token for this journal, although I do quite like it. It's more of a passing thought; rarely serious, mostly because A.) I like that I have a matching GMail accout name, and B.) I've used this name a lot in other places and I've tended to go along with it in other places.

I've also frequently used the names in this poll elsewhere, so that's why they are included. [g]

[Poll #757967]

I am watching this show on the Sci-Fi Channel and they had a feature on stigmata--AUUUUGH NO MAKE IT STOP. That terrifies me. But then, I've had a slightly macabre (I don't know if I should say macabre for this situation, but it beats saying "hella disturbing") morning of TV watching, as I caught Infamous Murders on the History Channel and City Confidential. If I end up watching Unsolved Mysteries, I'll round it all out.

I should probably do a poll on creepy TV shows next, if I decide to do so.

I really really want it to be next Friday, so that I can go and see Dead Man's Chest. I'm debating on whether or not I want to try to get tickets to the midnight show--I've never gone to a midnight showing of any movie, and someone I work with is going (dressed in pirate gear, no less) to the midnight show. I wonder if Tiffany will be able to do that...
