I am totally thinking of scraping the NaNo plot I have and abandoning it for something else.

I mean, it's all working in my head, but I've A.) got less than 5000 words and B.) right now, for some reason, my heart's not as into it as I thought it'd be. What made me be all obsessive-complusive last year was the fact that I kind of fell stupidly in love with my characters, all of them, and right now, I feel like I have only the faintest clue as to what to do with these characters. I like them, but I haven't gotten a complete feel for them yet.

Errrrrgh.

I say ditch it if your heart's not in it. It's not going to be any fun at all if you're plodding away on something for 50,000 words and you don't even care about it, you know? As my husband keeps telling me, "It's only voluntary!" ;)

You and I appear to have the same problem. I haven't gotten to start mine yet because I had a paper due last week and I went home this weekend, but I just don't feel for the plot yet. It's such a headache.

I'm having the same problem. My plot kind of fell through in my head, and I have even less words than you do. But, I've told myself that I'm OK with not finishing NaNo. I think it'll be more rewarding to write a story that I'm proud of and finish it, than to force myself to drag through one I don't like.

I really like your plot idea and everything. I really, really do. But if your heart isn't in it... Then there really isn't much of a point.

It'd be more fun to start over with something you prefer even though you lose time and words.
