I have an Instapaper account, and I was going through old links to look for something that I eventually forgot, as I got distracted by other links and articles. At any rate, I ended up stumbling into some webcomic that I'd discovered on Tumblr, and when I checked the source blog I found a link to something called I Made America.

This was around 11 PM last night. Since then, I've watched all the episodes, am slowly making my way through other videos, I have had the theme song stuck in my head all day, and now I'm reading the website. It's super-silly but also kind of fun, and I just want them to find poor James Madison. How the hell did this random webshow get to me?

Sometime in my senior year of high school I discovered Urban Dictionary. Sometimes I would spend my entire lunch period in the library stealthily reading my friends page and updating my journal, and I would keep another window open so I could read the random definitions on UD. I still go there sometimes for the lulz and for when I try to decipher what the hell someone else is saying (I still don't know if I understand "stay pressed").

Anyway, one of my recent looks over there brought me to the word of the day for March 23:
Message Anxiety: The act of pausing, freezing up, dreading, or avoiding the viewing of a E-mail, text message, or voice mail that you fear might be bad, [negative], or of major importance for you.

I have been doing this far too often lately.

In other news, I have started watching White Collar and I am halfway through season one and HOOKED. Why was I not watching this show before?! Also, this video will never stop amusing me. Never.

Also, Armie Hammer is going to play the prince in one of those upcoming Snow White movies. This is SO FITTING. For some reason he is also now my mental picture of Finnick from Catching Fire.

Finally, an awkward thing of the day. I was walking Pepper down the trail at the park near my house. A man and a woman were going down the trail on these bikes that weren't quite bikes, but more like go-carts with pedals. I don't know how else to explain them, but I digress. I was going down the path and laughing at some podcast I was listening to when I see the guy on the go-cart bike standing off the trail by the trees with his back to me. All I could think was, Oh please God do not let him turn around because this could get really awkward really fast. When he was done he turned around, smiled sheepishly, and I quickly walked past him and his female companion.

HELP. Is there something like LJLogin (that will let you log into LJ and LJ-clone sites and switch usernames on and off) for Firefox 4? I REALLY NEED THIS ADD-ON. IT IS ESSENTIAL.
enamoured: the starry-eyed emoticon: *_* (naughty snapples!)
I am feeling irritated over a bunch of stupid little things right now. Let's list them!

- The change in my coat pocket has somehow fallen into the lining and I DO NOT KNOW HOW OR HOW TO GET IT OUT.
- I can't find my Zune charger so I am having to charge it at my laptop.
- I don't have enough money to buy everyone's Christmas presents right now and I won't have enough to do that until Friday.
- I want to work on the Boarding School Epic of Doom but I have this major case of writer's block for it, even though I know exactly where I want to go with it.
- I don't have time to go stop by the comic store and see if the cute cashier is working.
- My dad's gone out of town to see my granddad and he's not going to be back until Christmas.
- Pepper will not stop eating the trash in the bathroom.
- I am waitlisted for a class I really need to take and if I get into the 6 to 8:50 section it will screw up my work schedule SO MUCH and I REALLY NEED TO TAKE IT EARLIER.
- I can't get storylines I want because I swear sometimes I feel like I'm one of the five people on IJ who doesn't mind writing women and men.

But on the good:
- I have three episodes of Misfits to watch whenever I get some time. I am officially hooked on it, omg.
- I'm doing that "50 Most Attractive" meme that was going around on Tumblr a few months ago and I'm posting it here.
- I finally downloaded LJ Juggler, which is like LJLogin for Chrome and I may finally have to make the switch over to Chrome officially.
- I saw Megamind, Black Swan, and Tron Legacy over the course of two days, which was interesting. Megamind totally surpassed my expectations, Black Swan was amazing and left me feeling ridiculously paranoid, and Tron was a nice way to chill after the intensity of Black Swan--plus, it had Garrett and Olivia (unf).
- I get to do all the Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve which is going to be fun. I am seriously one of those people who loves shopping on Christmas Eve because after years of going with my mom, I know how to navigate.
- Fingers crossed, come the 26th and I will finally have a friggin' Nintendo Wii. I hope that GameStop still has the red one for $199 then.
- DELICIOUS MAY NOT BE GOING AWAY. THANK THE LORD. I have way too many links to random blogs/Photoshop things linked there. I suppose I could use Instapaper but I can't TAG there.
- Easy A is out on DVD tomorrow, hurray!

Random neat thing of the day: back during this past season of American Idol, one of the top 48 finalists was Todrick Hall, a guy who I went to high school with. Earlier my brother's girlfriend showed me this video that he made, and apparently there is some sort of fan campaign to get him to do a McDonald's commercial. Sweet.

I saw The Social Network, A++s all around. And then tomorrow is going to be most excellent, as Chelsea and I are going to see Catfish and then go to see Sara Bareilles (YAY), and Sunday I think I'm going to see Let Me In. This has Best Weekend Ever potential written all over it.

The other night when I was in the lab editing my news story, about six or seven people from my class were in there as well. Gladys (who I took TV production with last fall) started showing random videos from YouTube and within minutes all of us were laughing our asses off at this, which is a remixed version of this (both of which are not work safe). I am honestly surprised I'd never seen anyone mention "Strut that ass" before then; that seems like something made for internet memage.

Tomorrow I get to see Ken Burns do a speech/interview at school! And I might get to go to this Q&A session before that as well. Kind of excited, but that's just because I'm geeky like that. The first thing I ever saw by him was the Civil War documentary--my fifth grade teacher showed parts of it to the class one day.

Days after hearing the news, I am still distraught that American Girl is "archiving" Felicity. Next to Addy and Molly, Felicity was the doll I wanted most growing up. Once I got out of my Samantha phase (and I think that like, half the girls who were into AG had a Samantha phase), I was all about Felicity. She was adventurous and rode a horse (and I liked this even though I was never super-into horses like other girls)! And BEN. BEN! I feel so tempted to go to AG Place in Dallas and buy a doll, post-Mattel eraness be damned. And I would buy the original dress too because I am not down with this lilac dress nonsense, and the blue Christmas dress of AWESOME.

(Semi-related: I am still pissed that AG got rid of Addy's school outfit. THAT WAS MY FAVORITE OUTFIT OF HERS, YOU BASTARDS. GRAAAH IF YOU ARCHIVE HER NEXT I AM COMING FOR YOU.)

My first assignment in screenwriting: read the script for Four Weddings and a Funeral and do a write-up of it. This class is going to be fun.

And finally: I know and trust you guys, so all I want to say is that I would really, really prefer that you all abstain from reposting any of my entries and/or comments on either Facebook or Twitter. No crossing of the streams and all. Thank you.
enamoured: the starry-eyed emoticon: *_* (casting devious stares)
Apparently, our personalities are set starting from about the age of six. This sounds so familiar. I think I remember hearing it referenced in a Peanuts comic, so. Something to think about.

My latest adventures in TV Tropes are reading (and boggling) at Fridge Brilliance. There is one in the literature section about The Secret Garden that just blew my mind.

In which I talk about PMS and Disney movies. )

I bought loafers today. I have not had a pair of loafers since I was about eight and my mom actually put pennies in them. I really want a pair of gray suede ones, but I will probably have to Google them up. Tomorrow I am off, and they're saying the heat index might read something like 112 or some other freakishly high number that will make me weep, so I think I'm just going to wake up early, walk Pepper, and spend the rest of the day watching movies and eating popsicles, maybe doing some push ups or something equally boring.

PS: I don't know how I've failed to mention this before, but I have something like... six codes for Dreamwidth accounts. (I'm enamoured there, but I rarely update; maybe one day I'll finally sync everything so I can cross-post between here and there more often) If you want one, message me and/or comment here and I will hook you up.

NOOOO TV TROPES COME BACK TO ME WHY DOES YOUR DATABASE HATE ME.

VERY IMPORTANT NEWS! I now have one of these guys. I have wanted a Pizza Planet alien since I saw the first Toy Story. My only beef with it is that it does not have a squeaker inside.

In the world of Awesome YouTube videos, today there is a live-action version of "What's Opera, Doc?" (the Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd short that features "KILL THE WABBIT") and the 100 Greatest Movie Insults, which features a quote from The Sandlot ("You bob for apples in the toilet--and you like it!" "You play ball like a GIRL!") that I have always found amusing mostly because of the delivery. And finally: the puppy Great Escape.

Also, I may or may not have gone to see a certain movie that was released within the past twenty-four hours. You cannot prove anything.
enamoured: the starry-eyed emoticon: *_* (my shadow and me)
My brother has finally sent me a friend request on Facebook. And in addition to that, so has one of my older cousins (who used to live with us and who I haven't seen in, God, years) and one of my uncles (his profile picture has him in his front yard with his lawnmower--why do I find this so funny/adorable).

Good morning to me.
enamoured: the starry-eyed emoticon: *_* (there are worse things)
I... don't know what to make of this.

You guys remember the Google Super Bowl ad? Ever think to yourself, "I'd love to tell a story via Google searches"? Now you can.

This has the potential for SO MUCH FUN.
enamoured: the starry-eyed emoticon: *_* (eat shit and diiiie!)
AUGH WHY AM I BEHIND IN THIS MEME THING.

Day 21: a website.
TV Tropes

TV Tropes is like a black hole: you go in and never really come out. I think I went there for the first time sometime about two years ago and I got SUCKED IN. I can waste HOURS reading random articles, editing various articles, or binge-reading Troper Tales and adding my own and oh my God it's a DISEASE and it is AWESOME.

Day 22: a YouTube video
Orlando bloom interview **EAT SHIT AND DIE**

THIS IS THE BEST CRAZY FAN VIDEO EVER. To summarize: Orlando Bloom is on Graham Colton's show. Graham looks up a fan site and starts reading the responses. Hilarity ensues. This video is the reason why I have that icon [points], and why I will probably never get rid of it. Ever.

Dear LJ friends: How many of you use Tumblr (besides the ones I know of)? I'm asking just because I can never follow too many people over there. For the uninitiated, this is a fun (and funny) guide to Tumblr. As for why it's so awesome: well, it's ridiculously easy to use and update. It's a neat way to consolidate a bunch of what could be smaller posts into one spot. The only major issues I have with it are the tags (there's no solid tag catalog for it the way that LJ has your own set up; there's no whateveryourtumblrnameis.tumblr.com/tag), the inability to search for specific "liked" posts (I have spent up to an hour going back and back and back looking for a particular thing I liked, and that is not fun), and the fact that it goes down sometimes like LJ did back in the day (and by that, I mean circa 2001/02, when the servers would just be like, LOL WE'RE NAPPING and I would be sitting in the school library all, NOOO COME BACK TO ME LJ!).

...I have been on the internet for a longish time. Dang.

Other random things: this icon of Paul Newman and a buzzard (or a turkey, I do not know which one it is--a turkuzzard? A burkey?) is my new default for some reason. My brother rented Zombieland, Ice Age 3, and The Hurt Locker, and I am probably going to end up watching all three of them by the time that he has to take them back. I keep contemplating making this post about what makes certain things that would be considered mundane to be sexy, but I can't find my words. I'm feeling really hopeful about the next week for some reason, which is good. And Tuesday is Free Pancake Day at IHOP.

PS: Since I spent a big paragraph talking about it, here is my Tumblr.
enamoured: "I can't go out, I'm sick! COUGH COUGH". Mean Girls. (boo you whore)
Before I do my concert-write up (with pictures--seriously, I will shut up about it after that, I swear), I have to admit that I succumbed to the pressure. I'm on Twitter now.
enamoured: the starry-eyed emoticon: *_* (glam me in yahoo)
Neil Patrick Harris is on Twitter now. Does that mean I should finally get an account there too?

(Kidding. But seriously, if/when Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs gets on Twitter, I will actually join.)

Random thoughts:

1. I AM WORKING TOMORROW AFTER WORKING ONE DAY A WEEK FOR THE PAST, UH, TWO/THREE WEEKS. It's something. I went in for my schedule today and just asked my manager if I could come in because I really need the hours, and she said yes. This is a Big Deal, because usually I tend to not be as assertive as I need to at work.

2. There was a police chase in Dallas that they broadcast on the news nearly all morning long. Really, people?

3. I just found out that Wet Seal carries plus sizes on their website. And there's even some cute stuff there too! My mind is boggled.

4. I can't believe I got into a minor Facebook fight. I thought that I was only made to grumble at people on LJ. Horizons have been expanded.

5. It's jacket weather!

6. InterfaceLIFT is my new favorite place to get wallpapers. I have one of a Venice canal on my desktop account, and I have one of smoke on...

7. ...my new (old) laptop. The story on that is like this: my mom had bought a HP laptop before she got a newer model, and I've since inherited it because of my Dell dying. For the first time ever, I can IM and watch YouTube at the same time. This is major for me.

8. I hate being unable to find what I'm looking for on LJ communities.

9. I went on a random video watching binge last night and this morning, and I finally saw the video for "LoveGame" for the first time and at certain parts, I started to wonder how many times Lady Gaga or Joseph Kahn had watched the video for "Bad", because I was having the occasional flashbacks to that.

10. If you've ever slept through something historic and/or legendary (either in real life or on the internet), raise your hand.

Day one: a song
Day two: a picture
Day three: a book/ebook/fanfic
Day four: a site
Day five: a youtube clip
Day six: a quote
Day seven: whatever tickles your fancy

The quote: "Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one.'"--C.S. Lewis

The miscellaney: Fuck Yeah First Lines. Like every other fyeah Tumblr, it is what it says on the tin. What's fun is looking through them and seeing the ones that you recognize. Annnd that's all.

My brother bribed me to pull out our Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 and we ended up spending a few hours playing them both today. It is weird to see 32-bit games on HD TV, let me tell you.
enamoured: the starry-eyed emoticon: *_* (all the time in the world)
I am in dire, dire need of a personal music device of the digital variety. Now would be a perfect time for it to start raining money so that I could buy one and also take care of a few other things that I need to take care of. Ugh. Anyway.

Day one: a song
Day two: a picture
Day three: a book/ebook/fanfic
Day four: a site
Day five: a youtube clip
Day six: a quote
Day seven: whatever tickles your fancy

The site: 1,000 Things I Want in a Lover. There are tons of great thematic Tumblrs out there, and I follow quite a few great ones (Fancy Fast Food, Why They're Hot, Movie of the Day, Psychotherapy, Songs You Used to Love, among others), but this is the one that has been one of my consistent favorites. Users submit traits they'd like to have in their ideal mate, and they're funny and sweet and all too true for me. Maybe it's just because I'm kind of a hopeful romantic, but yeah, there you go.

(Conversely: I've been using Tumblr for almost a year now, whoa.)
