Maybe this is just proof that I A.) am a bit too into pop culture of my era, B.) watched an insane amount of television, or C.) need to get off the Internets more, but the influx of new people at
heard_of_it keep referencing shows and books that are totally not obscure. The other day, I saw someone asking if anyone else had heard of Firefly, and while I think that's totally a legitimate question to ask the greater public at large, to ask that in a LiveJournal community? It makes me want to go, "Dude, do you not realize that you are in Crazy Psycho Fandom Territory? If it was created by the guy behind Buffy, got critically acclaimed, and was canceled because it was on Fox, of course people have heard of it!"
Another question asked if anyone had heard of The Perks of Being a Wallflower. That book is going to end up becoming a latter day Catcher in the Rye (especially now that large portions of the emo kids have adopted it as their personal manifesto).
Like I said: I watch too much TV/read too many books/am online far too much. What about the genuinely more obscure things, like the Sleepover Friends series? Or Now and Again (I LOVED THAT SHOW SOMETHING FIERCE)?
The other day, I realized that I really miss watching cartoons. A lot. If I could find someplace to watch/download/buy/steal Rocko's Modern Life, The Angry Beavers, various Bugs Bunny cartoons, and Danny Phantom, I would be most happy.
