Feb. 26th, 2008 11:39 amI've been sick the past couple of days. It mostly started last Tuesday, when I got hit with this massive wave of tiredness. I thought I was over it by Friday, but I still didn't feel completely better.
Saturday was fun, because not only was it insanely busy because every parent in the city descended onto our department to get their kids soccer cleats, but because I woke up that morning with my voice gone. I sounded like frogs had taken my vocal chords hostage. I spent most of the day whispering at customers and not talking as much as humanly possible.
Sunday, I woke up and my voice was attempting to come back. But then, SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENED. Halfway to work, I felt my right ear just go static. And my first thought was, "Oh shit, it's happening again." 'Cause, well, a few years ago, I ruptured my ear drum, and that staticy feeling felt exactly like how it did the first time. The worst part was that I had to work a nine hour shift, so it wasn't like I could pop over to the urgent care center or whatever and get medicine for it. So after a brutal day, I went home and my mom checked me out. I had fluid in my ear that she attempted to eliminate with peroxide. MY MOM POURED PEROXIDE INTO MY EAR. I can't remember the exact medical reasons for this, but SHE DID IT. However, it did work.
Yesterday I went to the doctor, who said I had an upper respiratory infection. I spent about $50 for the visit and the medication (antibiotics, Claritin, and Robitussen). And yet I still went to work, because, well, I kind of had to (there are exenunating circumstances about that that I can't go into right now).
I'm still not feeling great. It's been a crappy week even without the sickness. I feel like I'm letting people down in a lot of ways, and I shouldn't, but things are just not going well right now.
