everything's coming up roses.

Today was a mostly good day! I'm about a thousand plus words behind on my NaNo, but I stopped at a place that I think will be the official jumping off point for the rest of the story. The day was, by and large, made by three things happening.

First, a guy that I took screenwriting with last fall asked me to help him with a short film he's doing this weekend.

Second, a guy in my Art and Gender class wants to interview me for a documentary that he's doing.

And third, I'm pretty sure I'm cleared to do a story on new/returning shows that are on TV right now for next week's newscast.

The only moment of suck amongst this came when I was telling one of my classmates about the documentary. This happened:

Me: I got asked to do an interview for someone's documentary.
Alanna: What is it about?
Me: Oh, something about feminism in art...
Matt (Guy I Have Been Kind of Checking Out): [snorts]
Me: What?
Matt: I just... don't get feminism.
Me: [defensive] What is there to get?

Ugh, boys.

How...how do you not get it? Men & women are equal and should be treated as such. Boom, roasted. Cripes, that's disappointing. :P

that is a point i have reached many times with people. and it is always the point where it changes from "person i like" or "guy i have been kind of checking out" to "someone i pointedly ignore at poignant moments."

I know, right? I have a semi-small "dealbreaker" list and not understanding why feminism is still relevant is totally on it.

I'm so excited about the other things, though. This is the most excited I've been about a story I've had for the news cast in a while.
