walking a fine line
Oct. 8th, 2004 11:51 pmI just got done adding smart alecky comments to my icons. Who thought of adding that? They are officially cool.
I'm starting to seriously tire of any and all political talk. I want to be involved, I want to be informed, and I understand the importance of it. But it's just taking a toll on me. It's important but it's also reminding me of why I don't talk about or like politics very much. It does things to people. It makes people turn against you simply because of what you believe. I don't even talk about it much with my own family, because my mom and I have differing beliefs than my dad. And my dad keeps asking me about who I'm going to vote for, and I don't tell him because I know where he stands and he'll give me this big lecture about it. I don't want my perception of my dad to be damaged because we believe different things.
I want to declare my house a politics-free zone. I can't find a way to. It's too much on the forefront of all of our minds. The only one not thinking about it is my brother, who can't vote. I want to declare my journal a politics-free zone. It pretty much is. I haven't said anything about who I prefer because I don't want to create drama. I prefer to have a drama and conflict-free life.
This is about as effective as stapling Jello to a tree. I give up.
