When I get home (and do some homework), I am so going to work on setting up a community. Yeah.

Is it just me, or are some icon communities exceptionally... obnoxious about credit? I joined one at GJ and they're like, "THESE ICONS ARE NOT YOURS SO YOU MUST CREDIT DEMMIT". Um, hi. I understand the wanting to be credited bit kinda... but really. Icons are just pixels on a computer screen. IT IS NOT TANGIBLE. If you actually printed an average 100x100 icon, it's approximately 1" by 1". If you wanted to be fancy, you could print it on nice paper and make stickers. THEY ARE NOT THAT BIG OF AN EFFING DEAL, PEOPLE. Last time I checked, making icons wasn't like, oh, painting the bloody Sistine Chapel. Of course, to some icon makers, working on a 100x100 (or, if you want to be SUPER-high artsy, 45x45!) canvas is just as hard as--if not MORE so than--painting on ceilings.

I understand the point of wanting credit for your work, but seriously. "Sorry I have to miss work today boss, I have a very important meeting with my internet lawyers about some girl in Texas using my ICONS WITHOUT PERMISSION!"

I think so too. I think credit is nice where credit is due, but my biggest concern is people claiming icons as their own. That bothers me more than anything probably. But I totally agree with you.

yeah! I get that. Like, if someone who's known to say they don't have the software to do it was like that, I'd be a bit peeved too.

Oh, I strongly agree about the icons thing. They're JUST icons, as you said.

they're just icons, but if someone steals icons that I made for myself or for friends, that's a whole nother story.
