I think Nirvana is hugely overrated as well. I mean seriously, sure the grunge movement had it's day, but Nirvana was so not the best grunge band around...they just got the most publicity for their woes. *worlds smallest violin plays "my heart cries for you"* It's like emo music being trendy now. I'm an avid supporter of emo and all, but I'm not gonna dare say that Dashboard Confessional is the end all and be all of all things whiney. (cuz really, if Chris Carrabba wasn't so damn hott, I would hate DC) They just got the most publicity when that scene started. [/music rant]

Come on. If you look at just the POLITICS of what Cobain did for music AND songwriting, you cannot say he is over-rated.

Kurt is an amazing songwriter, and very few people have come close to his calibur ( Bob Dylan is the only other person I can think of that can write songs as well as he did ) and he did it in a revolotionary genre of music. Not to mention he does have quite a remarkable singing voice. Its rough and there are a good number of songs where it sounds like he is getting choked up. that raw emotion is just NOT evoked in any other kind of music.

And Nirvana got the most publicity because they were the first to get popular doing that kind of music.
Grunge/garage music has been around for a good amount of time ( although its still very recent) , but few musicians were GOOD enough to appeal to such a broad audience.
They make not be the best, but they deserve alot.

And I have probably listened to my copy of In Utero 23424 times.
Its so amazing.


Nirvana is NOT over-rated.
