I wanna slap all those brat girls on My Supersweet 16. Girls, PLEASE. When I turned sixteen, I didn't even have a damn party. And if I had, it WOULDN'T have cost upwards of $50,000! Sixteen IS NOT THE PINNACLE OF YOUR LIFE, GET OVER IT. The only thing that happens at sixteen is that you're able to legally obtain a driver's license, and in some states, you have reached the age of consent. But you are STILL a minor and you STILL can't drink or buy cigarettes.

If I ever got rich, God knows I'd try not to let my kids know it. I mean, sure, I'd give them the things I might not have had, but I'd try not to spoil them rotten or let them think that the whole would would be completely enamoured with them. And God knows I wouldn't let them spend more than $100 on a godforsaken birthday party. God. What is WRONG with people?

EDIT: OMG, this was my 1600th entry! [squees] And LJ has 8 million members and more userpics = 100 icons total! [finishes writing check out to LJ] And finally: yay, shiny!

I had a party when I turned 16, but it was nothing like what those girls get on that show. I just had a bunch of friends over and we hung out listening to music and running around my backyard. No fancy catering or anything like that. I haven't seen the episode yet, but the girl who is sitting in bed yelling for her mom and saying people are going to feel privileged and special because they got an invitation to her party? OMG! She's fucking annoying.

I didn't have a party when I turned 16 either. And, if I did, it would have cost about $500 max. God knows I hated turning 16, it wasn't as great as my last birthday party. Now that was awesome :D

I don't think I had a huge party or anything either, but my friends and I just went out and did stuff I think. It wasn't a huge deal. I like watching My Sweet 16 because it's so effing ridonkulous. Man. Haha.

When I turned 16, 1) I had no friends and 2) it was six days after 9/11. So I didn't have a party either.

I think it's just the idea of it because 15 and 16 in a lot of cultures are those acents into adulthood. Here in the US, it's just an excuse to party.

I had a Sweet Sixteen party. But it was like, $20 worth of food at my house and like, 10 people. There was a cake fight that ended with a smear of frosting on the bathroom door that I had to clean up the next morning.

Frankly, no expensive shin dig could have topped that.

The most expensive party I had was 4,000 dollars and that's only because it was my bat mitzvah. And the money that I got as gifts like paid for itself.

And I probably won't have a sweet sixteen that GRAND, just a get together with some friends and food.

no. I wanted one, but I didn't have very many friends. Plus, I had NO idea what we'd do.

oh man, I REALLY want to smack that one girl. If I were her mother, I would've called her party off. I just watched that thinking, "Oh my God! If I talked to my mom like that, she would've KILLED me!"

Hell I wanted to smack that girl. Did you see the one where the girl had a sweet 15 party? Because she wanted to have hers before everyone else. Omg she was annoying too.

I think for my 16th birthday I had, like, a slumber party with 4 friends and we watched movies.

I went to someone's Sweet 16 and it was pretty big, with tons of people and a DJ.. but it was still nothing like those crazy ones you see on TV.

We do it every year when me and my two friends throw our joint party! This year it was toned down because it was a dressy dinner party and no one wanted to get fantastically dirty like in past years (I and mean we got dirty).

But the cake fight still happened! And it's on the intinerary for next year's get together too!

I'm turning sixteen in exactly a week and I'm not even having a party because my best friend is on vacation and it wouldn't be as fun without her.

I watch my super sweet sixteen just to laugh at how superfical the girls are. Did you see the episode last season with the guy who wanted like a tennis court in the middle of his party. LOL. He had like 100000 polos and he always had the collar popped. He was interesting...

I can't even remember my 16th. 17th, yes. 18th--definitely.
All my parties involved sleepovers, prank calls, makeovers, & lots o' food.

Candice, I agree. I hope to be able to give my kids a lot more than I had, but if they EVER talk to me like those brats talk to their parents....well...let's just say, they won't be having any more birthdays.

i didn't have one because my birthday was in the middle of the summer and no one was around to invite.

i've been thinking about having one but no where near as elaborate as the super sweet sixteen girls.

the most expensive i can think of is buying plane tickets so "Harry and the Potters" could play my party. and that's kind of silly.

I LOVVVVVEEEEE My Super Sweet 16! Especially when the girls are extra bitchy. I love to laugh at how stupid they are. They think people watch the show to admire and be jealous of them....when everyone is actually watching to laugh at how stupid they are
