I tend to avoid
ohnotheydidnt under most circumstances, because it kind of hurts my brain. Only when something major in the celebrity world happens or when someone links me to an article there do I check it. So over at Snarkfest someone linked to then and now pictures of various pretty boys who graced Teen Beat in the early/mid '90s (you know, before they became all BSB/*NSYNC oriented, and really, that's when I actually began buying them like they were going out of style. I have itty bitty sticker Polaroid pictures of my room when it was covered in Backstreet and *NSYNC posters in one of my journals, Good Lord), and I'm all, "HELLO CHILDHOOD CRUSHES" right now.
And because I like to listify things, and because I am very forthcoming with the fact that I was and still am a massive geek:
1. I remember when like, half of the girls in my fourth grade class all watched Home Improvement just for Jonathan Taylor Thomas. I even did too, kind of.
2. Oh, and Rider Strong. He might be the explination for most of the crushes that I had on guys I went to school with--they all had dark hair that they wore kind of long. Huh. That explains a lot, really. This guy I had a crush on in seventh grade looked a bit like him. Now that guy is a Greasy Frat Boy (TM me; definition: overtanned metrosexual, potential asshole).
3. I had a massive crush on Devon Sawa in Little Giants and for the five minutes he was in Casper--I recently bought Now and Then on DVD because when I was a kid, my mom refused to let me see it. Why I was allowed to watch Clueless and not Now and Then is still beyond me. But yeah--he has not aged well at all.
4. Oh, Elijah Wood. I loved him in Forever Young, that movie with Mel Gibson and Jamie Lee Curtis. Oh, and in Deep Impact too.
5. ...and Andrew Keegan! God. He was in the made-for-TV remake of Freaky Friday with... Shelley Long. One of my friends in middle school kept telling me that he was ugly. Sort of a Junior Greasy Frat Boy.
6. In sixth grade, we read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and we got to watch Tom and Huck. After that, I would watch that movie whenever it came on Disney because of Brad Renfro.
There. I'm done sharing nearly all of my embarassing crushes from (gasp!) ten years ago. NOW IT'S YOUR TURN. INCLUDE PICTURES PLZ.
And I am using this icon because there was a time when I was, in my head, going to be married to Howie from BSB by the time I was twenty. Oh, hush.

Date: 2007-04-02 09:15 pm (UTC)I was defintely in love with Nick Carter for a little while. He was just SO cute.
I also liked his little brother, Aaron. I know, what was I thinking!?! (that picture was defintely on my bedroom wall!)
In the eighth grade, when the second Harry Potter movie came out, I was in love with Daniel Radcliffe. My best friend at the time was in love with Rupert Grint. We used to dream that they'd come to our school and take us to England. Yeahhhhhh....

Date: 2007-04-02 09:16 pm (UTC)I can't really remember who else I had a crush on back then. Oh! Joshua Jackson and the kid who played Adam Banks in the Mighty Ducks movies. I liked them too.

Date: 2007-04-02 10:27 pm (UTC)Wow. Yeah. Devon Sawa did not age well. Which is weird because he looked good in Final Destination.

Date: 2007-04-03 01:49 am (UTC)Actually, the top left picture is of my bathroom. Because I ran out of room in my bedroom. It was that insane. These pictures really don't do it justice at *all*.
I also thought Jonathan Brandis, Brad Renfro, Devon Sawa, Elijah Wood, and Rider Strong were totally, totally cute. But JTT was my one true love. Sigh.

Date: 2007-04-03 01:58 am (UTC)2. Andrew Keegan probably grew less greasy (good thing)...still not sure I'd date him though.
3. Jonathan Jackson (YOWZA - I was too young at the time to drool over him, but OOH BABY) is apparently trying to channel Johnny Depp.
4. Brad Renfro now? YIKES x_x
That was a pretty awesome post. Kudos to them on finding recent pics!
