Saw Super 8 today! Scattered thoughts:

I loved the kid actors. Their dialogue was great and their banter was really genuine. I never have had strong opinions about either of the Fanning sisters (did you know that Dakota just graduated from high school?! YES), but Elle was fantastic as Alice. The scene at the train station when she's saying the line to Martin about not wanting him to leave (that ends up making him cry) was funny and cute. (Also, I would never have guessed that she was the youngest of the kids cast!)

I am one of the flinchiest people alive as far as movies go. If I sense that someone's about to get killed/something's going to blow up/anything that involves loud sound effects is about to happen, I close my eyes. I missed the Eye Closing parts a few times because I was doing the "Lean Forward Because I Know SOMETHING Is About to Go Down" thing. I jumped the first time that the alien attacked the bus but when it grabbed the alien I didn't.

I did, however, join the rest of the audience in recoiling in horror when Martin threw up. I couldn't remember most of Joe's friends names (save for Charles and Alice) until I got home to my copy of Entertainment Weekly so I kept calling him "Barfing Kid" in my head.

I noticed the 47 in there. Isn't that (along with 4 8 15 23 42 48) one of JJ Abrams' oft-repeated numbers, or am I just making that up?

I loved that Charles's movie got played over the end credits.

Joe's dad is the coach from Friday Night Lights, right? I have another reason to finally get to watching that show! (Besides Taylor Kitsch and Michael B. Jordan and Adrianne Palicki and Matt Lauria, and the fact that everyone else is all CANDICE, IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT FOOTBALL, IT'S REALLY GOOD I PROMISE)

In short: do want to see again!

Also, my ears are pretty much completely healed! Still itch a little bit, but I don't look like I'm developing some sort of heinous death rash.

OH WAIT, I FORGOT TO MENTION THIS: The first preview we got was for Breaking Dawn, Part One. I about died giggling. It was immediately followed by Deathly Hallows, Part Two. I admire the sense of humor of the person who decided on the trailer order.

I quite agree about the kids; whether I liked them or didn't between different scenes, at least they always felt genuine. And heh, I don't close my eyes, but I often put my fingers in my ears when things get Quiet...TOO Quiet because I know some shit's about to go down and I will jump out of my seat, and that definitely happened a few times in this. Yipe.

Nope, you're right about 47; it was a running theme on "Alias." :) I was looking for lots of "Lost" references, but I only noticed "Kelvin," which is just a general Jaybrams thing (there was something/someone by that name in Star Trek and M:I4 as well). And yep, that's Kyle Chandler, although I know him from "Early Edition," which used to rock my life for a short while there. :D Glad you liked--BUT OMFG JEALOUS OF THOSE TRAILERS!! DDDD: I saw the movie early on Thursday and I guess they didn't want to release the new shit yet because I just had old ones--I NEED TO SEE HP:DH ON THE BIG SCREEN. I mean, the trailer. NOT JUST ONLINE. O_______________o I may need to sneak into something tomorrow...

I totally loved the kids! Every single one of them was so natural. I thought the same thing when I saw the "47"!

I giggled during Breaking Dawn because, well, it was giggle-worthy.

I squeed (& teared up a little) during Deathly Hallows.
