enamouredLast night my mom came home from work and found me in the kitchen working on my laptop. For about an hour we were both sitting there, talking about our days and doing our various things (me working on my Camp NaNo story, her playing Scrabble on her iPad), and around 1 AM I decided to get ready to go to bed. As I was taking my stuff to my room, I could hear a movie on in my brother's room and it took me a minute to realize that he was watching Free Willy 2.
I'm going to take this moment to reveal that my brother's name is Willie, and that he spent a good portion of elementary school having to tell people that he didn't spell his name like the killer whale, only for him to later have to tell people that his name wasn't really William. Anyway, when the first movie came out, my brother was obsessed with it, and with orcas. My mom bought him a framed print poster of orcas, and I think he had some killer whale sneakers. Somehow he ended up with the soundtrack on cassette, and he played it for weeks on end. I still can't hear "Will You Be There" by Michael Jackson without remembering having to listen to it all the time.
I'm bringing that up because I'm thinking about how I've gone through various periods where I get really into certain things, and that obsession spans through the summer. I've mentioned it before, but that made me think of it again. Then again, I'm revisiting some of my previous summer obsessions in bits and pieces this summer, namely BSB and Spider-Man (I just saw the teaser for The Amazing Spider-Man and I WANT THAT MOVIE NOOOOOOOOOOW, but seriously, can we have some snarky Spidey in this piece at some point?). Yeah.
I am also jealous of my friends who are at Comic-Con this weekend. The weather will be delightful, and there's tons of stuff there I'd like to see. JEALOUS.
