According to weather.com, it is 97 right now. As late as 8 PM, I was still getting various reports that it was 108. Napping through the day? Good choice.
I have won a lot of things in the past three weeks. First was the $10 La Madeleine gift card. Then, on Monday Mona at work told me that I was one of the employee of the month picks, so I got to choose between a bunch of gift cards. I chose the one from The Store, because I have my eye on a pair of Nikes. And then this morning I got a call from my local library telling me that I won their summer reading program prize: a $25 gift card to Target. If I had some cash on me right now, I'd probably go and buy some scratch offs.
I've watched a lot of stuff over the past couple of weeks, so let's talk about that.
TV:
I bought the first season of Friday Night Lights last week because it was $10 at Target, and because I've been wanting to finally check it out for forever, since like HALF OF EVERYONE I KNOW who has seen it cannot stop raving about it. And (as I mentioned over on my writing Tumblr) what kept me from watching it in the first place was the fact that there's football, and I am wildly ambivalent toward football.
ANYWAY. I watched the pilot and I'm game for watching the rest of the season. It's... not that bad! And I say this despite my previous thoughts being "mmm, Taylor Kitsch" like, all the time. Why did no one tell me how beautifully this show's shot? I was having some scenery porn moments watching--like, "How did they make west Texas look so beautiful?!"
I've also watched all of the episodes of the new MTV show Awkward so far. The description:
It's kind of fun. Jenna is snarky without being totally overbearing, her friends are ridiculous and hilarious, and I like Jake way more than Matty. Sadie is kind of too much, though.
And I've been slowly starting to get into Pretty Little Liars. I watched the first episode at the start of the summer, and just watched episode two today. Don't know if it'll be a must-see, but it's entertaining at least.
MOVIES: I saw Captain America: The First Avenger the Friday it opened, because I had been waiting for that movie all summer. (All summer might be a gross underestimate; maybe since about last December? Whenever the movie made the cover of Entertainment Weekly and I was all I AM THERE when I pulled it out of my mailbox?) While my experience was nothing like this, it was enjoyable (save for the random kid who was singing during the last five minutes. I mean, what?). My feelings on the movie itself more or less amount to As I said at Tumblr: I think I'm having a Chris Evans situation. I was all, "...well, okay?" when he got the part but now I'm a believer. Can it be next May already so we can get our Avengers on? That movie will have too many attractive people in it. My head might explode.
The Tuesday after that, I saw Friends with Benefits, which was kind of fun. And after that I sneaked into Captain America again.
Yesterday I saw Crazy Stupid Love, and I was kind of underwhelmed by it. I mean, there were parts I liked--the reveal with Hannah, Hannah's friend, Jacob's "move" and the Photoshopped line, which is a thousand times better in the movie than it is in the trailer--but some parts just left me cold. Especially the part with the pictures near the end. SKEEVED ME OUT.
Tomorrow, I forsee more napping through the day and maybe more FNL viewage.

By taking changes and embracing her misfortune, she becomes well-known by her peers.
