I hate seeming like I don't care about big, important, earth-shaking things when I do, but considering the enormity of those things sometimes makes me want to curl up into a ball and not deal with the world at all anymore.

I have to block out the world on a regular basis or I'd find it hard to get out of bed sometimes. The world can be a very shitty place!
