literary nuts unite
Oct. 16th, 2003 12:28 pmI wish I'd heard about the
50bookchallenge sooner. I probably have read fifty books this year. Maybe more. In fact, I almost finished one the other night.
I read The Great Gatsby over the four-day weekend. I liked it. It was pretty good. I had to return East of Eden because I would've had to bring it back this week and I wouldn't have had enough time to read 700+ pages in a week at the way everything's going now.
Sometimes like this, I miss Battle of the Books. I did it in sixth grade. On Wednesdays my first class of the day was spent in the library, reading. I read almost every book on that list, and to this day I can remember some of them:
Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry
The Boys From St. Petri
Summer of My German Solider
Come a Stranger
The Giver
Little Women
Brian's Winter
Maniac McGee
Tarzan of the Apes (read the first three chapters and put it down. I HATED it)
The Hobbit (didn't read it)
The Pushcart War
The Face on the Milk Carton
Seriously, if I had a period where all I could do was read, I'd be very, very happy.
