enamoured | yes, I am alive. Thank God.

remember how on Tuesday I was complaining about how I was sick and had a bad cold? Well, guess what? Turns out it wasn't a cold. Turns out I got the flu.

Lucky me, right?

I kept waking up Tuesday night and very early Wednesday morning, convinced I'd be the walking dead in school and wondering why the heck every bone in my body hurt like you wouldn't believe. And I got up and I told my dad I felt like sheer crap ('cause he knew I'd taken cough syrup and all that when I'd gotten home the day before and that I'd tried to sleep it off) and he told me to take my temperature. I had a fever of 102.4 or some number that should be a radio frequency, not your temperature. So no school for me.

Yesterday I was starting to feel a lot less achy and stuff, but my throat was starting to hurt, and it burned when I tried to drink or eat anything of the citrus variety (no pineapple or orange juice for me) and I was majorly stuffy. Dad took me to the doctor, and the doctor swabbed my throat to check me for strep, then he had to check me for flu, so he (oh God, this is just too much) stuck a swab up my nose for the flu test. I nearly sneezed on him. Ick.

And it turned out that yes, I have the flu. Meaning I could not go back to school 'til Monday. Waaaah.

Basically, I've watched a whole lot of cartoons, music videos, and TV Land, and I've slept a lot too. And I feel lots better, except that now I'm still stuffy and my throat hurts like you wouldn't believe. And really, being sick makes you think about random things. Like, okay, I'm re-watching the 200 Greatest Pop Culture Icons, and wondering why Shirley Temple wasn't mentioned. Or was she and I've forgotten? I mean, she was the first major child star--shouldn't she get props? See, random stuff.

I think I'm going to lie back down again.
