Hi everyone. What's up?
This morning I went to a scrapbooking class. It was great. I worked on a few pages for my senior book thingie. I need more scrapbooking stuff. There is a set of stickers at the store where I went to the class that I desperately want. It has a "Newspaper" theme, and it has all of the stuff I want on there: Quill and Scroll, layout, photographer... I swear, I freaked out in the store. I was all, "I MUST HAVE THESE STICKERS!" Maybe later, hombre. Maybe later.
I went to Barnes and Noble last night. They are hiring at their coffeshop. Gah. Everybody, pray for me. I want that job SO BAD. They get a discount on books too, right? If so, I want that job. I got Sixteen: Stories About That Sweet and Bitter Birthday and a book based on that show they used to have on VH1, The List. (I was thinking about that show earlier yesterday and I saw the book on the clearance rack and I just HAD to have it--$3.88!) Too bad I only had enough money for the books. I saw the new issue of Entertainment Weekly with Jake Gyllenhaal on the cover and gasped aloud. Those EYES. My Lord. If I can find the cover picture, I think some would concur with me. (...or maybe not. I'm such a sad little fangirl. But THOSE EYES. Theyarejustsoblue.)
I'm back at my summer writing tradition. Oh boy. See, ever since I was seven, I've wanted to write an actual novel. Seriously. Every summer, I used to try to write a novel. I can't even detail some of my plots, which goes to show you how bad they were. But, here's a few:
--When I was eight, it was using a pencil in a hardbound book with strawberries on the cover, and it was a quasi-fan fiction thing, a sort of Baby-Sitters Club meets Salute Your Shorts thing.
--When I was ten, it was using an old word processing program to create a hyperfictionalized version of my fourth grade year.
--When I was thirteen, it was my first piece of fan fiction, and a script for a teen movie called "Crash and Burn". ("Crash and Burn" is one of the few long projects I've ever finished. It's not in correct script form, but it's fifty-some odd pages. It's the dumbest thing EVER, but it's mine mine mine, and I will dig it up to reread it some time this week.)
--When I was a junior, it was a fall project for the This is PUSH novel project, semi-loosely based on my relationship with Someone I Mention Far Too Frequently.
And last night I started ANOTHER attempt. I don't want to talk about the plot, becase it's only a little sketchy, and blah blah blah. For the first time in forever, I'm actually writing it longhand--as in, in a notebook, double spaced, in pen. Ever since I've become fairly computer literate and can type fairly fast, I've been doing all of my stories on PC. The only thing I actually write is poetry and lyrics. But I just got this idea and I've been reading some of Sixteen, then stopping to write my own story. I've written sixteen pages. Wow.
Oh, yeah. Here's the magazine that I want so bad. SEE WHAT I MEAN ABOUT THE EYES?! GAAAAAAH![/shrieking fangirl] Hi, if you need me, I am on the floor.
