You know how you see/read something and you want to try to summarize how you felt about it, but you keep turning it over and over in your head? That is what I'm doing when it comes to The Hunger Games (movie). I've seen it twice already and still don't know how to put into words what really worked for me in the movie without coming off as nonsensical.

On the other hand, I did see Mirror Mirror on Friday, and I enjoyed it. I mean, it's not that deep of a retelling of Snow White, obviously. It's visually gorgeous (which goes without saying; it's Tarsem directed) and fun, and even though there were families with overexcited kids who laughed way too hard at scenes that I only chucked at*, it was fun. Alcott is definitely one of the best parts of the movie, though. Armie Hammer as a Prince Charming? Yup. Works so well.

I wish I were off on Wednesday, because that is Titanic rerelease day and I am so going. I never got to see the movie during the original theatrical run. My whole sixth grade class pretty much did. I am making up for lost time on a pop culture milestone that I remember but didn't personally experience**. In honor of that, here's a list of things you might not know about the movie. #31 kind of blew my mind, and reminded me of exactly how long it was at the theaters. It was in wide release in December of 1997, and I'm pretty sure I remember seeing listings for Titanic as late as April of 1998. Wikipedia informed me that it was the first movie to have a home video release while still being shown at theaters, and damn, that movie was friggin' HUGE.

And in unrelated ickiness: I woke up this morning, went to scratch my right ear, and there was a little black bug crawling around on it. I am ashamed that I thought of the Yeerks from Animorphs, even more so because all my knowledge of that series comes from the TV show. Never read the books.

*: Oh, to be five and easily amused again.
**: But like about 75% of girls, I had a massive crush on Leo, but mine was a residual crush left over from Romeo + Juliet.

When we had HBO, almost every time it came on I would forget whatever I was doing so I could watch. It was that kind of movie.
