So I watched a few videos on Launch. Thoughts on them:
The Dark of the Matinee, Franz Ferdinand: Oh my God. I love that video. The synchronized dancing! Alex with nice hair! They're in school! I giggled the whole time. Do they show this on MTV? I don't watch it much anymore, so I don't know. If not, they need to play it. What a video. It's so... HAPPY!
As Long As You Love Me, Backstreet Boys: I don't even remember how many years it's been since I've seen this video. I can't forget the first time I saw it, though. Spring break of 1998, when The Box was still around. God, I miss The Box. It was on basic TV, a channel you had to have superb tuning skills to access. Twenty-four hours of music videos that viewers phoned in and for the low fee of $1.99 a piece, they could pick whichever video they wanted to see. This video was responsible for solidifying my crush on "the one with curly hair" (Howie) and gave me a smaller crush on "the blonde one" (Nick) and "the one with wavy hair" (Brian). Seven years later, I'm far more taken with AJ. Why did I never notice that during the chair dance scene that Kevin and Howie are the two who have their shirts open? Speaking of: I STILL LOVE THE CHAIR DANCE.
Take on Me, a-Ha: hands-down, one of the best music videos ever. So says MTV and other "Best Video Ever" countdowns. I haven't seen this one in years, literally. The animation is super-cool! The girl is not so cute. I downloaded the song a few weeks ago and it's hard to imagine the song without thinking of the video. Thumbs-up from me.
This Love, Maroon 5: why do I love this video so much? I can't see Ryan in it. Adam looked really good in it, though. But the whole time, he was thisclose to getting his freaknasty on with his then-girlfriend in the video. Interesting how when they filmed the scenes with Adam and The Girlfriend, the colors are kind of muted, but when he's singing behind the red background, things are more vivid. Huh. The Girlfriend isn't knock-you-down pretty. And I just remembered her name is Kelly something or other. Elle Girl did an interview with her.
I went over there to look for the video for "Mr. Brightside", because I've heard so much about the version that is Moulin Rouge-inspired. But I could not find it, so I opted to watch other videos instead. Yay. I almost watched the entire Britney video cataloge because danggit, I love her videos. But "Toxic" is just the best of the batch, hands-down. You may all mock me now.
"The Chauffer" by Duran Duran is like, one of the hottest songs ever. I'm talking "melt your underwear off" hot. I heard it for the first time ever at the concert and now I have the song on a mix and... [melts]
Anyone seen the new commercial for The Ring 2? Ohhhh God, I saw it for the first time a few nights ago. It was pitch black dark in my room, 'cause I hadn't turned on my Snoopy lamp, and as I was leaning up, the commercial comes on and AAAAAAUUUUUGH. I can't see that stupid movie in the theater because I will freak out in five different ways.
Someone PLEASE tell me WHY Kirsten Dunst is going to be in a movie about Marie Antoinette with the very cute Jason Schwartzman. Well, err, at least we know how things end for her character. Meow.
And
lostchallenge is going to friggin' KILL. ME.
