Mar. 20th, 2005 02:46 pmSo, Maroon 5.
The neat part: I got to meet The Donnas! They opened for the guys, and I got all their autographs. Very cool.
The not-so neat part: Adam wasn't exactly in top form. Before the show, he'd fractured his sternum (I can't remember the exact story, so I have to go somewhere and see if someone more attentive than me was listening and can quote verbatim) and he'd gone to the hospital two hours before and was on painkillers and wasn't moving around much. He said something like, "So right now, I'm on painkillers. So kids, don't take them unless something hurts. Your heart doesn't count." Very cool of him to keep going on even though he was obviously pained (and still had on his hospital bracelet). And during a little part in "Secret" he sang part of "The Girl From Ipanema", which was awesome.
After doing "She Will Be Loved", Adam decided to call it quits and pointed out that they'd had a replacement drummer in for their regular drummer, Ryan, who'd gotten injured a while ago, and he said he was going to call it quits for the night, and have Ryan finish the show for him. So then Ryan comes out, and he does "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes. And mmmmm, he was rockin' the casbah. And well. And I'm like, five to seven yards away and he is VERY nice to look at. VERY. Then they did "Highway to Hell" and James (the guitarist who was constantly coming over to the side of the stage I was on and mugging for photos) ran through the audience, through the whole entire lower level. It was awesome. And after that, it was over. They didn't do "Sunday Morning" and "Sweetest Goodbye". (my favorite songs on the album, sigh) So yes, I had fun, but it was a slight letdown.
So anyway, as I was waiting for my ride, I ended up chatting with one of the tech guys from the tour, who was standing out front with one of the guys who worked the camera. He was telling these two women (who looked to be in their late thirties or so) that some younger girls had come up to him and asked if he was the gardner from Desperate Housewives. Hee! His name was Holland, and he was really cute, and I made small talk with him and got the camera guy to take a picture of us together. Fun times.
And I was sitting next to this guy and his girlfriend (on my left) and these two women who were forty-ish (to my right). The guy with the girlfriend offered me some of his beer (why exactly, I don't know) and I took a sip (again: why exactly, I don't know. I was feeling stupidly brazen) and I almost gagged, 'cause ew. Not for me.
I'll post the (few) pictures I took later.
And I made my dad his birthday mix and he has yet to listen to it. Woe.

Date: 2005-03-20 11:59 pm (UTC)Sorry to hear about the nasty beer experience as well...I've only just recently managed to aquire the taste for 3 beers. (yuengling lager, bud (not bud light, gross), and coors light) An odd combo, and only acceptable after I've already had a nice amount of liquor! :)
