You Know You're a Geek When... this makes perfect sense to you.

My top ten must-see summer movies.

1. The Longest Yard (May) (saw it last Saturday)
WHY? Nothing beats the wonderfully stupid comedy of Adam Sandler and Chris Rock. Separately, they are amusing; together, they should be comedy genius.

2. War of the Worlds (June)
WHY? A summer movie is guaranteed to be a hit if it features an A-list actor, a cute kid, and the possible end of the world by forces of nature, man, or extraterrestrial. Speilberg delievers this all: Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, and hostile aliens.

3. Mr. and Mrs. Smith (June)
WHY? Brad Pitt + Angelina Jolie. C'mon, now. The attractiveness alone is part of the reason why I want to see it. Plus, it's kind of darkly funny; the fact that they are both mercenaries who are unknowingly looking to kill each other, and there's the fact that sometimes married people may irk each other to the brink of possible attempted murder...

4. Batman Begins (June)
WHY? We all need to collectively forget Batman and Robin. Plus, Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne is inspired casting, and the awesome Michael Caine plays Alfred.

5. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (June)
WHY? The books are great and the casting seems pretty much spot-on. After reading the book, I'd mentally cast America Fererra as Carmen at least a year before movie talks. Some of the plot's been changed, but other than that, I'm hoping it manages to be a good book to movie adaptation.

6. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (July)
WHY? Though the Gene Wilder version was very cool and creepy, this one's said to be more faithful to the (very creepy) book. The trailer has the most cracktastic jingle ever ("Willy Wonka! Willy Wonka!"), and I think I'll enjoy being creeped out by Johnny Depp as the Candy Man himself.

7. The Island (July)
WHY? The premise is creepy, and I love creepy semi-scifi stories of future societies. Plus, Ewan McGregor is in it, and I like Ewan.

8. Wedding Crashers (July)
WHY? It's the most random thing ever--guys crashing weddings, hoping to hook up with lonely attendees. It's so crazy it just might work. Plus, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn together should equal hilarity and hotness.

9. Fantastic Four (July)
WHY? What's the summer without a superhero movie? (A long and very boring one. PS: I WANT IT TO BE SUMMER '07 FOR SPIDER-MAN 3 ALREADY) I wasn't going to put this one on the list until I saw the trailer. And the trailer don't look half-bad, so I might go see it with my ex-comic geek dad. Father/daughter bonding time!

10. Must Love Dogs (August)
WHY? Total chick flick. Diane Lane and John Cusack presented together at the Oscars a few years ago and they looked great together, and hopefully they'll continue looking great together in this movie. Plus, with all the action movies and zany comedies, we all need a little romance, non?

The Island is actually based on a book series.
amazing books. I hope they dont ruin it.

i agree with 2, 5, 6 and 7.

1 and 8 are probably the worst movies of all time.

I saw the longest yard and it sucked. the original is better.
the only thing that saved it was burt reynolds being hot.

I wasn't too interested in Fantastic Four until I saw the preview either.

Willy Wonka and Alice in Wonderland were my two absolute favorite movies growing up. I'm totally creeped out by Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. Which means it's going to be GREAT.

I really want to read the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books, everyone raves about them. I can't decide if I want to read them before or after I see the movie though.
