I wish that religion and wanting to be religious didn't matter so much to my family and to me. And I wish that I didn't have such a huge guilt complex (be it Catholic or Methodist Guilt) about not wanting to go because I feel like a fake every time I go to the church my family goes to.

I stopped going to church in high school. Very upsetting to the parents. Very liberating to me. My mom is so big on church but she doesn't have any faith. Nobody in my family ever did except my uncle. That was the big eye opener to me. They had lots of fear, but little or no faith. As far as I was concerned, that made church a torturesome endeavor. I watch my mom now and see that I have tons more faith and hope than she does. She fears everything and I'm at peace 99.9% of the time. Take from that what you will, but I think we're meant to find our own paths. I think that's the way it's supposed to be. You could be the most spiritual person on the planet and follow none of the principles or rules laid down by any church.

I've always stood by the belief that one doesn't necessarily have to go to church to be religious or spiritual. You have to find your own path.

it's not that your church is fake. It's just that your church services are. It hurts people who aren't loving enough to attend.

You won't be satisfied 'till you let the beggars, who you say aren't loving enough, on the outside come in. If you don't they may force their way in whether black or white or spanish or asian.

It's gonna hurt them, the members of your church, more than it's gonna hurt us. We don't have feelings when it comes to executing discipline. Don't second guess us. We will kill.
