Okay, so: has anyone out there had tonsillitis? If so, how'd it go? Did you have to get your tonsils taken out? I'm getting really worried that I might have it. Right. Just what I need. Potentially serious illness. I don't know whether to cry or what.

I accidentally ripped the top part of one of my favorite bras, which sucks. The worst part is that I went around half the day worried that something would pop out.

In the meantime, I'm gonna watch Mind of Mencia and finish reading for class tomorrow.

Had it, have it, live with it. It's a chronic illness for me.

It's hellacious when it flares up, but my tonsils are very much intact. The only problem is, it can lead to an additional case of bronchitis since your tonsils are weakened by the illness.

Honestly, it's best you go through with the surgery. It's fairly routine; you'd come out of it fine and you'd never have tonsillitis again.

OOH! Mencia! Did you ever see the DVD?

I have it and would love to share the insights.

i had mine out when i was 5, it was very much worth it for me. i was always sick before then, and ever since, i get sick much more rarely.
one warning sign that your tonsils are infected is to look at your throat with a flashlight, are there white patches on your tonsils? if so, definitely see a doctor, do not delay.
if you are so worried, tho, i would suggest seeing a doctor asap anyway, because whatever the result is, at least you'll know and won't have that uncertainty.
and if you do have tonsilitis, the surgery isn't so bad. it sucks for a while, but they wont give you any more trouble after that.

I had my tonsils out 3 years ago and OH MY GOD what a difference it made. I used to have a sore throat like, all the time, not to mention when it would get infected I would just get sick anyway. And then after they were out.. I think I've been sick like once a year maybe since then.

I would totally recommend getting them out if they're bothering you. I'm not going to lie, it was painful and not fun for a couple weeks, but the tradeoff has been SO worth it.

I've had tonsilitis and my doctor advised me not to remove them. He said that it weakens your immune system. I don't know how true that is though.
