Dec. 4th, 2005 09:42 pmI have honestly forgotten how good Fruit Roll Ups are.
My dad rarely got my brother and I the neat things like that for lunch. We always had sandwiches with salad dressing (err--Miracle Whip? The stuff that's like mayo but not mayo? Every time I say "salad dressing" most people look at me like, "What the hell? You put ranch dressing [gag] on sandwiches?!"), or peanut butter and jelly (in my brother's case), and some fruit (either in Tupperwear or of the apple/banana/orange variety, and a Hi-C. Everyone else had cookies and Lunchables and Fruit Roll Ups, and I had a Healthy, Nutritious Lunch. Well, except on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (when we used to get pizza or Chick-Fil-A or, for awhile, Subway or Taco Bell at school). So I used to ask kids for the gooey fruit snacks and such.
And we rarely got sugary cereal either. Only when my dad went out of town did my brother and I get to get Fruit Loops and Cocoa Puffs--other than that, all we would have (and still have) is cereal like Corn Flakes and Cheerios (sometimes honey nut--shocker!). Boring things like that.
But as I said: I forgot that Fruit Roll Ups are ridiculously good and chewy and have NO nutritional value whatsoever, but they are wonderful anyway. The end.
