So sometimes, I have times when I want to say something, except... nothing immediately comes to mind. Sometimes I'm prone to random ranting (about books or spoiled teenagers or Fandom Things That Piss Me Off), but lately I've been strangely sedate. I blame my Lit Class Project of Doom on this, kind of.
But then, it was like a flash to me. Plot bunnies.
A plot bunny, for the unacquainted, is an idea for a story. Sometimes, these ideas reproduce and boom, next thing you know, you've got plot bunnies. Multiple ideas, many of which tend to be on the cute side, all but begging you to write them.
I used to constantly be chased by hoards of plot bunnies in their pitiful cuteness. Then, for the longest time, they stopped. And now, sometimes they pop up, but not with the frequency and/or ferocity that they once did.
I say this because one in particular often comes back to me when I get bored. I think the first time I met it was last summer, when I was bored and was wishing for the new TV season and had spent far too much time reading the spec threads at various Lost forums. Might've been after hours of perusal of
ship_manifesto or something. Anyway, I was just thinking, and all of a sudden I get this idea:
You have these four kids--three raving fangirls of a certain producer who's made some fairly good shows in the past, and the other guy is their token male friend who watches whatever they do only grudgingly (and mostly because of the girls on the shows). So these girls get together and they start to write a TV blog under aliases, mostly talking about one of this big shot producer's shows. So then they find out Producer is making another new show and is scouting out locations near their hometown (in my version, it's in North Carolina--Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill anyone?), and they're like, "Oh, it'll never get made here," and the next thing you know, they find out this new show (details of which are sketchy, but whatever) is going to be filmed right in their town. And, what do you know, they all end up being crazy into the show and stuff. And their various run-ins with the cast (and their blog entries) make up the bulk of the book. And there are subplots with the girls' families and with their guy friend (who is kind of a pyromaniac), except... that doesn't matter.
This idea of mine is totally insane, yet it haunts me a bit.
I don't know why I thought of that, but for some reason I found myself missing the Adopt-a-Plot thread that pops up during NaNoWriMo. There's some really good ideas over there. Maybe I should donate my unused plots for someone else to make into something interesting.
(And: Oh my God, why are all the memory archives on LJ being so STUPID?! Ugh. I tried refreshing one page six times and it STILL said there was problems with the memories feature. LJ! Get yo' stuff together!)
