How come I didn't know that Lauren Collins (from Degrassi) was in Take the Lead? Dude, where have I been?

Yeah, I went and saw that movie before work today. I missed the trailers (which makes me sad, as I kind of love trailers), but didn't miss much else. I [heart]ed it--but then, I love dance movies, and all the ones I see about ballroom make me want to do it and want to be fabulous at it. And maybe I'm just amazingly easy to please, but the way they mixed standards with hip hop was awesome. It was like a mash-up maker's wet dream.

Someone needs to seriously come up with the master list of dance movies, so that I can see them all (and feel bad that I am uncoordinated and probably can't dance to save my life). I've seen Dirty Dancing and its sequel, Center Stage, Girls Just Want to Have Fun (the movie with a young Sarah Jessica Parker), Save the Last Dance, and part of Footloose. I know there's more, but I'm probably forgetting them right now, so--reccomendations, anyone?

And on a simular note: I remember seeing an HBO animated short called The Red Shoes when I was younger. It's about these two girls, and one has a pair of red ballet shoes, and the other girl either considers stealing them or does steal them, and she can't stop dancing--like the fairy tale, except this one took place in the '90s or something like that, and the girls lived in Brooklyn and there was a reggae-type soundtrack. Does anyone else remember this one?

For dancing movies, I'd also reccommend Mad Hot Ballroom, a documentary about 5th graders in NYC public schools who are required to take ballroom lessons. It's awesome.

The Lexicon of Love, i think its called?
it was so good!

I am so into Alex now, her character is so likeable now that they went more in depth with her story.
and she has alot of chemistry with Paige, and shes a great actress.

I LOVE the movie Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. When I was little, I used to rent it everysingle time we went to the video store, because my dad wouldn't let me buy it. *sigh* Dancing movies are the best.

I LUUVED Mad Hot Ballroom. You could always check out old Fred Astaire movies or Singin' In The Rain. It's not specifically a dancing movie, but there's alot of dancing in it.

Man I loved Center Stage. I remember i showing one Christmas morning and my mum yelling at me to take the tv off and come to dinner but I couldn't tear myself away even though I'd seen it like a million times before.
