put on your red shoes and dance the blues
Apr. 9th, 2006 12:30 amHow come I didn't know that Lauren Collins (from Degrassi) was in Take the Lead? Dude, where have I been?
Yeah, I went and saw that movie before work today. I missed the trailers (which makes me sad, as I kind of love trailers), but didn't miss much else. I [heart]ed it--but then, I love dance movies, and all the ones I see about ballroom make me want to do it and want to be fabulous at it. And maybe I'm just amazingly easy to please, but the way they mixed standards with hip hop was awesome. It was like a mash-up maker's wet dream.
Someone needs to seriously come up with the master list of dance movies, so that I can see them all (and feel bad that I am uncoordinated and probably can't dance to save my life). I've seen Dirty Dancing and its sequel, Center Stage, Girls Just Want to Have Fun (the movie with a young Sarah Jessica Parker), Save the Last Dance, and part of Footloose. I know there's more, but I'm probably forgetting them right now, so--reccomendations, anyone?
And on a simular note: I remember seeing an HBO animated short called The Red Shoes when I was younger. It's about these two girls, and one has a pair of red ballet shoes, and the other girl either considers stealing them or does steal them, and she can't stop dancing--like the fairy tale, except this one took place in the '90s or something like that, and the girls lived in Brooklyn and there was a reggae-type soundtrack. Does anyone else remember this one?
