All right, people, it's that time of year again. The weekend before NaNoWriMo begins.

Last year, I was super-into it, determined that I'd write my cracked-out novel and finish it and win. I won, but Push Rewind is still unfinished. One day (in the next year or so?), I hope to edit it, rewrite it, and have something finished that I'd love. This is going to be my third time doing NaNo, and I've been kind of quiet about it for no particular reason. I'm gonna cram in the last of my research this weekend (along with homework), and as I'm off Tuesday night, start writing then.

I know some of you guys might be doing it too (and for the first time, even), so mostly, I wanna know who else is doing it, and I'm A.) asking (nay, demanding) that you add me to your writing buddies on the official site (IsLikeaSong is my name over there) and B.) asking if you've got a NaNo journal ([livejournal.com profile] december10).

Oh! What're you writing about too?

I've been debating whether or not I should have a separate journal for it, but I can't decide. Did you find it helpful to have one?

Right I'm writing a noir-type story sent in the mid-1950s about a detective and a journalist who were childhood friends growing up and then one moment in their teens drove them apart. They have to reunite to look into the rape and murder of the mayor's wife.

It helped me mostly because I used it as backup--I e-mailed copies of chapters to myself and saved it to my USB drive, but I wanted to be careful. I also put all my character names and random thoughts I had about plotting in there, so it was pretty helpful.

Oooooo, I wanna read that.

Fuck.
I don't even know if I'll have the time and motivation to do it.
I might attempt to.

I added you as a writing buddy on the NaNo website. This is going to be my first experience, so I'm pretty nervous and psyched at the same time.

After reading what you said about a NaNo journal, I think I may steal the idea. If I do, I'll add your journal! It sounds like it may help.

As for story information... I'm juggling two different ideas, actually. I need to brainstorm a bit more!

Good luck on your work. I'm too busy in Novembers to do NaNoWriMo, so I set off July to do it. It took me a month and a half, and I only reached 47,500 words (I didn't feel that there was anything more to add to it that didn't require lots of research), but I did finish my novel. So it is possible!
