Friday before work, I decided that I had to get out of my rut of sitting at home with Pepper. Because of the OMGICE (the news was acting like it was the end of the world), I was at home all day Thursday and I got sick of staring at my brother and the dog and it was too much, you know? And besides, I wanted to go see a movie. So I picked Casino Royale.
Prior to this, every time I heard the title I thought of the parody one, with Woody Allen and "The Look of Love" in that one scene--which I've seen a few times. And yeah, I know where the title came from and all. And prior to this, my experiences with James Bond movies were limited to the Bondathons on Spike TV and Die Another Day (my brother and I watched it during Christmas break a few years ago, and he fell asleep and I waited for something interesting to happen, and we both concluded that it sucked). So I wasn't really expecting much--well, short of something blowing up and those Tiny Blue Swim Trunks from the trailer. The swim trunks? The reason I went to the movie.
But now, I totally want to go see it again and have someone to go "OMG DID YOU SEE THAT ONE PART WHEN SUCH AND SUCH AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING ABOUT POKER BUT DUDE" with. And someone who understands why "to the right" is now hilarious to me in a totally awful and wrong kind of way. I NEED TO GO SEE THIS MOVIE AGAIN. NOT ENOUGH HOURS IN DAY OR WEEK. UGH.
I was rooting through my memory box for old pictures of me and friends and I found this stenographer's pad that I obsessively wrote lists and song lyrics in back in sixth grade. And this is a list I wrote in there.
Top 20 List of Things That Are Cool
1. the Backstreet Boys
2. the song Truly Madly Deeply
3. Adidas jackets
4. the Spring Carnival
5. Oakley's sunglasses
6. tinted sunglasses
7. glittery nailpolish
8. glow in the dark items
9. Robyn
10. strappy tank tops
11. Nike shoes
12. inflatable furniture
13. moon and star designs
14. white Hollywood sunglasses
15. Vans sneakers
16. the JustNikki catalog
17. crusher hats
18. silver jewelry
19. platform sneakers
20. the Delia's catalog
Regarding some of these items: #14 is probably a reference to the item description name of some sunglasses in a catalog--maybe 16 or 20. JustNikki was a mail-order catalog that I used to pick up at Claire's, and they sold the kind of things that were really cool back in the late '90s: strappy tank tops, crazy sunglasses, inflatable furniture, platform sneakers--most of the clothes I listed. And super-wide leg pants. I wanted a pair of blue ones from there once, and this "vintage" pea coat with '70s design flowers.
Almost ten years later, I can still mentially picture it. I still kind of want that coat.
...man, there are some cheesy poems in this book. The joys of being twelve.
Oh! Hi to everyone from Snarkfest who friended me.

Date: 2006-12-03 07:00 am (UTC)Other catalogs I enjoyed that have since came & went: Delia's (which is still around but whatever), Moxie (which later became a magazine?), GirlfriendsLA... there's more I can see plain as day in my head but I can't think of their names, haha.
