"This is liquid turkey!"--Mike Rowe
Jul. 3rd, 2007 10:12 pmLong time, no update, non?
June was a weird, long month. I now have about a month and a half until I'll be in Austin, and I'll know at least two people who will be there with me as well: a girl I used to work with (Kara) and the daughter of one of the ministers affiliated with my church (Hannah). And (I hope) I'll be able to meet
side_streets.
I saw Ratatouille today! I have a tendency to worship at the altar of Disney/Pixar, and a tendency to be slightly apprehensive about the movies until I see them again (exceptions being both Toy Story movies and Finding Nemo). But I liked this one right off the bat. I never thought I'd find a rat adorable. I don't think anyone ever would, but, you know. And the guy who does the score for Lost did the music for this!
Speaking of Lost:
watch_lost = me rewatching the Pilot for the first time in forever. When I look back at my college years, I will most likely strongly associate them with Lost. It made me remember the first time that I watched the show. I don't remember total specifics, just the fact that the commercials and mentions on my friends' list piqued my interest and so I tuned in. I didn't truly get hooked until the second episode; and I didn't start spiraling towards obsession until I rewatched both parts on one of the Saturday repeats (remember when they did that; rerunning the past two week's episodes on Saturday nights? Genius move. I guess they don't do that anymore since more and more people have TiVo and stuff, which kind of sucks because what about the losers like me who don't have TiVo yet?) and saw both parts together and the "Please help... they're all dead," made me go "..." when my mom and brother weren't yelling at me, "What's going on?! I don't get it!"
I am unfortunately not on my laptop, which sucks because there is this cool blog I wanted to link you guys to--it does daily topics and links you to articles and web sites that pertain to that topic. It's in my Firefox bookmarks there and I've scanned my del.icio.us bookmarks for it and I can't seem to find it. But in lieu of that, some neat things to check out:
Mashable!: "With in excess of 4 million monthly pageviews, Mashable is the world's largest blog focused exclusively on social networks" (meaning: Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, and so on).
Fantasy Moguls: "It's like fantasy sports, except you pick movies instead of athletes." I really need to join this.
Stripe Generator: generate your own striped background.
Moleskinerie: dedicated to tricks, raves, and other things about Moleskine notebooks. If you don't know about them, Moleskine notebooks are black covered semi-pricey notebooks that come in a plethora of varieties and are really popular in some circles online (especially with posters at
jr__nal). The current journal I'm writing in is a Moleskine (one of the plain cahiers), and it's pretty nice.
Seeqpod: search for and stream songs. And you can even build a playlist.
And finally: Mo Rocca's blog:
