Oh my God, this is so cool. This French Simpsons site does a side-by-side comparison of The Shining and the Treehouse of Horror episode "The Shinning".

Also: why do people like Family Guy so much? It gets on my nerves in so many ways. Peter is massively stupid, and not even in a vaguely funny way. There's a slight undertone of misogyny there too, and it's just so moronic. You can complain about Homer being a idiot all you want, but as least he's not half the dumbass that Peter Griffin is.

I agree. I've tried watching Family Guy a few times, and I want to like it, but it just doesn't work for me. It's kind of painful, actually. There's typically at least one laugh out loud moment, but it isn't enough to make me sit through the rest.

I like Stewie and Brian on Family Guy, and that's about it. And the pop culture references, but the rest of it is in the suck. Oh, and I don't like Stewie and Brian enough to watch it.

there is a tone of misogyny in family guy, but to me, it's because they're making fun of misogyny.at least, that's how i've noticed it!

my favorite parts of family guy are the random little things that have NOTHING to do with ANYTHING! like, the "WACKY WAVING INFLATABLE ARM-FLAILING TUBE MEN!" ad, and the nature-documentary thing where the ambulances and firetrucks are stalking antelope on the serengeti.

I think Family Guy is all about the cultural references. I know that the favorite part of the show for me are the strange little asides they do. When they cut to the TV, I know it's gonna be good.

Also...they have a alcholic dog and a baby who wants world domination. And damn it, that's a combination that I can't disagree with. :P

I agree so much about Family Guy; I see what they are trying to accomplish humour-wise, but sometimes it just seems more destructive, as if the writers are hiding what they really believe (ie racism, sexism, etc) behind humour. Sometimes, there's simply no satire at all.

And yes, Peter is SO unworthy compared to Homer, and how!

Also can you please please email me? I'm really begging now; I understand if you are busy, but I feel like I'm not worth your time, and it's making me sad. glockgal at gmail.com.
