You know what? Since Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco and other such bands are like the equivalent of the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC ten year ago (in that they're on the covers of J-14 and Teen Beat--wait, is Teen Beat still around?), I wonder if there are, say, middle school girls out there duking it out on the playground over who's better. Are there thirteen year olds who are staking claim on Pete Wentz the way that some of my best friends in seventh and eighth grade did with Nick Carter and Justin Timberlake? Are there crazy fangirls who post anti-FOB messages on boards? And which of the guys from these bands is the universally ragged on one? Who's the Howie (or Chris, or Joey) in those bands? I don't even care about them, yet I wonder...

The computer lab that I am currently in always smells like sawdust. I do not think that's normal.

Hell yeah, there are fights. My brother's 16, I hear his friends bitching about it. I also had some middle school students working with us in a class, and one of the girls I was helping was arguing with her friend about Boys Like Girls. Apparently they're sell-outs?

And I saw a teen magazine a couple weeks ago (not that I was looking...or that I would've been looking if there'd been, say, an issue of "Smart College Girls Who Look Smart In Grocery Stores" conveniently on the rack) but I do know that there was a big article on whether Pete Wentz is an attention whore or not.

My feud was Hanson vs. Spice Girls. Remember that show Celebrity Deathmatch...or something? The claymation thing on MTV or VH1, whatever? The Hanson/Spice Girls episode was HUGE at my elementary school. There were bootleg tapes, people had photos taped to their backpacks, we had teams on the playground - we threw down, yo. I was a Spice Girl recruit. My job was to defend Ginger's hair. Important stuff.

I REMEMBER THAT EPISODE! Hee! There was a Hanson/Spice Girls feud for a minute at my school too, then the BSB/*NSYNC thing started up. I liked both groups, so I always felt a little bit torn.

Hmmm...I've never heard my 8th graders talk about these bands. Now I'm tempted to ask, haha.

They wish they could like BSB and N Sync.

Fact: I walked right pass the lead singer of Panic when I was in downtown Seattle. All up in the way when I was walking.

Well, Pete is obviously the Justin and the one with glasses is JC... and the other members of Fall Out Boy are all interchangeable to me. This makes Ashlee Britney Spears, by the way.

And do the boys in Panic have names underneath their very scene hair?

And also, the rest of the bands sound the same.

Maybe this weekend I'll go into Hot Topic and just yell "Panic at the Disco are so much better than Fall Out Boy!" and see what happens.
