Oh my God, this is positively insane. An "avant garde" scrapbooker (actually, one who doesn't fall into the usual scrapbooking demographic of moms and grandmas, and scrapbooks in a style that's more similar to what some people do at jr__nal) entered a contest sponsored by one of the most known scrapbook magazines out there. She won and got inducted into their Hall of Fame and everything. But then the magazine revoked her Hall of Famer status because (GASP!) one photo in one of her spreads was not taken by her! (Dude, what do they do when someone does a spread containing a school picture of their kid? Does that put you on the blacklist as well?!) (Also, otf_wank has a great collection of links and stuff. And now there are majorly pissed off scrapbookers who are, well... ranting like psychotic fans.

This is insane. I don't really scrapbook, but the materials are gorgeous. Every time I attempt, everything looks exceedingly lame.

One person condemned Contes' lack of shame, admitting that she, too, had entered a contest once, and later realized she had broken the rules. "For about 10 minutes I kept thinking 'Don't worry about it, nobody's gonna know,' " she wrote. "But then I thought 'You and GOD are going to know.' " She withdrew from the contest so her children would still be able to look her in the eye, and then "proceeded to cry for about 3 days."
