Lately I've been thinking of writing up book reviews, especially considering that I've been reading a lot lately (in addition to doing my class work and working, quelle surprise), and even though I've been listing all of the books I've read semi-compulsively at Listography, I am kind of starting to feel compelled to justify my ratings, because I am weird like that.

Have I mentioned that although I felt like the first one dragged for eternity, I kind of want to read the other two books in the Twilight series? What does this say about me? I do not get the fawning over them at all, but I have this insane desire to try and figure out why the fandom's so big, and for me, that means trying to read the books and see if there's anything in them that would get me that hooked. Crikey.

I miss my shows. I need to get caught up on them.

Also: anyone reading anything good now? Please suggest something to me.

Don't give in to Twilight! Try "Companions of the Night" by Vivian Vande Velde!

Do you like young adult literature? I finished Inkheart a few days ago and really liked it. I ordered the other two in the series after I finished it.

I unfortunately don't read many books outside of course readings during school. So at the moment I can only recommend Kierkegaard. :) My general recommendation is always Wasted by Marya Hornbacher, though, because I think the world would be a better place if everyone read it.

One of the mainstream books I've read recently and liked: Water For Elephants. I'm starting a bookclub with some friends online and it's going to be our first book.

Just started Plane Insanity by Elliot Hester. He's a flight attendant and the book is a collection of his stories.

I started reading it since I work in an airport...it's hilarious so far.

Water For Elephants! Oh, and The Kite Runner! And if you're into something not so challenging, Seeing Me Naked by Liza Palmer was really good, too.

Seconding Inkheart (They're making it into a movie, Paul Bettany is supposed to be in it, last I heard), and..Yeah. I couldn't finish Twilight. It was painful.
