Re: Breaking Dawn.
This book is abso-friggin-lutely ridiculous. Other people have talked about the ridiculousness better than me (
cleolinda recaps the entire book, and it is epically funny), though.
But this is all I have to say (and it's pretty much copied from what I posted at fandom_wank):
PS: you guys heard that there are people returning their books, right? That is some hardcore hatin' going on right there.
My Blair dress will be arriving soon. [dances in joy]

You know what? After all the stuff that goes on in this series, the Gossip Girl books almost seem semi-harmless in an odd way. Yeah, there's Blair's occasional bulimia, Nate and friends being gigantic potheads, Nate stealing his lacrosse coach's Viagra, Chuck's general skeeviness, and the premartial sexors (with CONDOMS, mind you!), but at least there's no pedo undertones, possessive boyfriends, obsession (at least Blair wants Yale as much as she wants Nate), and Rosemary Babies.
Shit, compared to this, the GG show is a walk in the park.

Date: 2008-08-05 09:41 am (UTC)While with Gossip Girl, you can revel in the ridiculous aspects while enjoying the characters seriously as destructive, pained people. It's got this "watching the predators in the zoo" aspect to it.
and GG has actual characters.
I watched a bit of a rerun today. Blair maneuvering against Nelly Yuki and Chuck saying "Where have you been all my life" to Dan. :D
