enamouredMy van (a 1998 Windstar) might be on its last legs. I haven't driven it since my birthday, when the engine service light came on. Today, my dad and I went to pick it up from Firestone and he told me that there was a valve break or a leak or something in the engine, and that water was leaking into the oil and it would cost more to get the engine fixed and... yeah.
We moved down here in that van. It was the first vehicle I ever drove. It's my first car (so to speak). I've never been ashamed of it, even though it's dented and scratched in parts, and short of that, it is still in fairly good condition. Dad says that it was just wear and tear, which makes sense considering that we took it halfway cross-country and back at least six times, and it's got over 120,000 miles on it (if I remember correctly). But A.) it's the sentimental-ness of the whole thing and B.) this is hella inconvenient for me as I only have about $800 that I was setting aside for a new car, and I was thinking I wouldn't have to get one until next year, and C.) I hate driving my dad's car, which is what I've been driving since the van had been parked.
It's like 2008 needed to give one last eff you! to me. I kind of feel like Marshall in that episode of How I Met Your Mother when his Fiero died.
