Today I raided two Home Depots for paint sample cards.
So I'm taking this 2D design class (since it's one of the prerequisites in the art department for other things and since Film and Video is in the art department at my college, I have to take it), and one of our design projects was to incorporate text into a design, but not in a way that involved us spelling out a message. So for some reason, I get it in my head to use paint samples (like the kind you can get at hardware stores). I cut up God knows how many paint samples and glued them to paper in this swirly fashion. I will have pictures of it for viewing early next week, because it's insanely hard to describe. But it looks really cool, even though the background looks kind of stupid.
Anyway, we're going to be doing our final project starting next week, and I decided that I wanted to do something else with paint samples. So I went to two stores and grabbed an insane amount of samples. I have a stack that is now color-coordinated and probably about two and a half inches high. Somehow, in the next few weeks, I am going to be using those, glue, and some kind of stiff paper to create my final design for this class. I am mildly concerned, but mostly I am PSYCHED because I love doing this stuff. It actually makes me feel like I'm doing something artistic--and I usually don't think of anything I do like that.
