QUESTION: How do you personally say the word twat? Do you pronounce the a like ah, making the word sound like twaht or with a short a, making it sound exactly like it's spelled?

I am crossposting this question everywhere, because I heard it mentioned on an episode of a podcast that I was listening to today and it started driving me crazy. I've always said it with a short a, because that's what I remember Father Patrick (one of the friars at my school) saying it as when he told us that a twat was a pregnant goldfish. Confirm/deny that statement, anyone?

I say it with the "ah" sound.

I pronounce it "twaht." As far as I've heard, British people pronounce it with the short "a" but no one else really does.

I don't think I've ever said it out loud before now. Congrats. And I used the ah.

Rhymes with "trot."

Rhymes with cat. Now if you say cat wrong then you have a problem. How do you say aunt? Rhymes with haunt in my family.
