am I asleep, no I'm alive.
Jul. 1st, 2013 10:39 pmToday was one of Those Days. It was nice out--temp didn't get higher than 86, it was mostly cloudless in a pleasant way, and I woke up comparatively early without feeling like a zombie. I just figured I had to drop off the meningitis vaccine documentation and I'd be registered for a summer class at the local community college, and after that, I could come home and take Pepper down to the park for an hour or so, really get her running around and everything.
Except when I got to the school, the registrar attendant told me that my documentation couldn't be used, since I got the shot in 2007.
I ended up going to my main school to get the shot, and I hate shots, but it wasn't too awful because the nurse was super nice and talked to me the whole time to keep me calm. I came home for a minute, and then went back to the CC to try to register for the class.
Then the registrar said that I had a block on my account from the counseling office.
What I thought would take forty-five minutes tops ended up taking two hours, and involved me magically recalling my ID number from the first CC I went to so that I could verify that I was qualified for college level courses, because for some reason the school I was at didn't have my full transcript from UTA and only had my upper level classes. The counselor who helped me, and the woman at the registrar office, were both amazing. I am seriously considering sending them thank you cards.
But then I had to pay for the class, as today's the last day to register for summer classes! So I had to drive over to my bank. I took Pepper with me, because I felt bad that she had been stuck inside all day. I deposited the money, and was getting ready to go home when I got on the highway and realized that I'd forgotten that one of the lanes was closed for repaving, so traffic was backed up and people were driving like idiots.
Just when I was thinking that I made a terrible choice getting onto the highway and cursing the fact that every exit ramp seemed to be closed so that I couldn't get home on a side road, I got rear-ended.
I could handle all the school stuff. The shot sucked, but whatever, I just needed to get shit done. But getting rear-ended in MY car? The one that I'm actually actively paying for? I had a minor freak-out moment, but by the time I pulled over to get the info from the other driver (and I could see that the back bumper is dented and has streaks of paint from the other car's hood), I was so overwhelmed and done with the whole damn day that I was shockingly calm. The other driver was freaking out hardcore and I just kind of stood there making calls and getting pictures and writing down info, feeling a bit emotionally dead inside.
The car is fine otherwise. I'm fine. Pepper's fine. It was just a lot to deal with in less than twenty-four hours.
So that was fun. And all I wanted to do was talk about the crazy OMG fun that I had Friday night, but, well, life. How was your day?
BONUS: on LJ, this is my 3000th entry. YAY, WHAT A BUMMER.
