I hate that so many other people I know are going off to four-year schools and I'm going to community college, even though all these reports in papers seem to be telling me and anyone else who cares that going the two year, then transfer route is becoming more popular because college prices are just too damn much. I still feel like a bit of a loser anyway.

I feel like such a brat because of it. But it's like, geez, can't I get SOMETHING I wanted? Now I have to wait two more years and go through all of the applying junk again. Crikey. I'm already mentally making a list of the schools I want to apply to now.

Someone help me to not feel so despondent. Please?

i WISH that i were going to a community college, no lie, because it really does save so much money. i think it's the best route to go, but now it's too late and we've already started paying the egregious monthly amount to my college. so, no feeling despondent! candice rocks the house. :)

I've lived at home all four years... I commute to school even now, because its cheaper. You're not a loser or a brat... lots of people do this, and they're smarter for it because they have less debt when they get out.

Oh Candice. :(

Don't feel bad about going to a community college first. I know a few people that have done that or will be doing that. And it probably will be cheaper too, so you won't be in a huge debt like some of us.

I honestly would have preferred to go to a CC first, but all the scholarships I got from Ole Miss were for entering freshmen only, so I had to go straight there.

As far as not feeling despondent... um... would you like a link to a really deliciously smutty Clay fanfic? With like, bondage and stuff? Cause I got one. It sure made ME feel a lot better. Otherwise I'm kinda no good for consoling.

I've gone to both...but took JC classes while at a University. Actually, from that experience, I wish I had gone to the JC first, then to the Uni. Not only does it save money, but...it's just easier in a lot of ways. There wasn't as much pressure, plus it gives you a little extra time to decide what you want to do & stuff. Or, if you know what you want to do, it gives you more time to pick the *right* university for you (unlike what I did, by just jumping in, thinking I was going to the right Uni, & here I am transferring because I was wrong & have basically paid more money to take classes I wouldn't even have to take over there, etcetc).
Plus the student to teacher ratio is MUCH better....& the professors I had were probably nicer than those I've had at uni.
God always has a plan. He has you there for a reason, so chin up & make the best of it. The more people I talk to, the more they recommend JC/CC/etc before heading to a University, most claiming it makes for a smoother entrance to the college world ;)

you have to do it yourself. Look at the top of the "community info" page, and where it says, "to join the community, click here", and click on the link.

Aw, sweety... don't feel bad. You made a smart decision in going to JC/CC. I don't start college for another month and already my parents have spent thousands of dollars in miscellaneous fees! Right now I'm wishing I had stuck with my original plan of going to community college for two years then transfer because I honestly don't think I'll be able to afford a four-year. Plus, it doesn't help that I don't have a concrete idea of what I want to do as a career. Other than the one good friend I've made in the process, I'm feeling like it's a big waste. And did I mention the fact that I'm going to be paying off student loans for at least ten years?

And why am I in this predicament? Because I let my pride get in the way. 'Oh, if I don't go to a university like all my friends no one will respect me!' Now I realize how stupid that was.

So seriously, no worries. You made the right choice.

I honestly can't tell you which is better, because I don't know, I'm just on the verge of being a junior in highschool, and my head is still in the clouds about college stuff... but you know what???
*CONFETTI, HEARTS AND STARS* <3 :D *love* Don't worry, be happy!

considering most people transfer *like me* you'd be filling out apps at least twice anyway.....the only thing your missing out on is the freshman 15 and excessive partying which leads to bad grades

hey

hey... don't worry about having to transfer... I'm a junior now, but my mom hasn't really started a college fund, so i'll probly have to go to a community college before i can go to the expensive "artsy" school that I really want to be at.

By the way... I love your icons.... I'm totally obsessed with the breakfast club.

lol... well- talk to ya later, I guess
